Tarator is a kind of cold soup in traditional Bulgarian cuisine. Sometimes it is referred to as liquid salad or salad tarator, for example in Serbia, where the tarator is without water. It is a favorite dish in the summer months. Although its main ingredients remain the same in different regions of Bulgaria, the tarator traditionally can contain different spices.

- 300 gr. of yogurt
- 200 g. cucumber
- 1 spoon vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 120 ml. of water
Shake the yogurt well and dilute with cold water. Add the cucumbers, cut into small cubes and the cooking oil in the yogurt. Add chopped dill and chopped (pressed) garlic. Add salt to taste. The mixture is stirred well and placed in a refrigerator. Tarator in served sprinkled with nuts if desired.
